Sharon’s research explores perceptions of anti-racism and racial literacy training in education. One of her objectives is to identify critical factors that senior educational leaders should consider when implementing anti-racist training initiatives.  Another is to empower educators to move beyond surface-level changes in the curriculum, motivating them to actively adopt anti-racist practices that recognise and challenge racial disparities.

The central focus of Sharon’s research revolves around understanding how anti-racism and racial literacy training can reshape the professional practices of educators. It is imperative to recognise that these transformative initiatives extend beyond mere modifications of the curriculum; they are integral to fostering an educational environment where issues of ‘race’ are confronted and where active efforts are made to challenge racial inequality.

By probing into the impacts and perceptions of anti-racism and racial literacy training, Sharon aims to provide valuable insights for educational leaders and institutions seeking to promote a more equitable and inclusive learning environment. Her research is an exploration of the potential benefits, but also an examination of the complexities involved in this endeavour, shedding light on the nuances and challenges that may arise during implementation.
